SASHA – CASE STUDY
SASHA CASE STUDY
24 year old young man, with a love of nature and socialising with others. Keen to find opportunities
MENTORED BY HANNAH
Background
Sasha was referred to the Life Chance Trust for support in finding volunteering and work experience opportunities in the outdoors. Living in an isolated area, he struggled to connect with others of a similar age and often found it difficult to access meaningful activities. Diagnosed with autism, routine was very important to Sasha, and he found change challenging. making regular volunteering crucial for his wellbeing and development
Mentoring
Sasha and Hannah spent some time setting goals together while enjoying a walk around Dartington Estate. They visited local organisations that could offer Sasha volunteering opportunities and engaging activities, such as School Farm, Sirona, and Life Works. Sasha was very engaged in his mentoring and looked forward to his sessions each week. He also attended our beach BBQ, where he tried paddle boarding for the first time and enjoyed interacting with other young people.
"I would recommend Life Chance Trust to other people. A very worthwhile experience!".
Where are they now
Sasha is now actively involved in new volunteering opportunities at School Farm and Sirona. He has also been introduced to group activities run by the Life Chance Trust, which he is always eager to attend. Through these experiences, he is spending more time with others and engaging socially - something he truly enjoys. Sasha has shared that he now feels much more confident, thanks to the support of Hannah and his mentoring experience.
