LOUIS CASE STUDY

Young man looking to become more independent with a love of radio

MENTORED
BY MEL

Background
Louis has been, and continues to be, actively engaged with Sound Communities, who have provided invaluable support throughout his education. They referred him to Life Chance Trust for additional support in relation to his relationship with his mother.

There were also concerns regarding his finances and how these were being managed by family members. In addition, Louis expressed a strong interest in becoming involved in more social activities with other young people of his age.

Mentoring
Louis attended several sessions with his mentor, Mel, where they discussed his hopes and aspirations, including housing, personal goals, and joining a gym. They visited a local gym to help Louis explore his options.

Louis was keen to engage with other young people and, with support from his mentor and members of Life Chance Trust, attended group activities. He also expressed an interest in developing his leadership skills and explored the opportunity to become a Youth Advisor.

It’s given me a sense of purpose to drive me to get up in the morning, meet new people and do more things. I’ve enjoyed my time with the trust so far and hopefully things will go up and up and I’ll develop some new friendships and look forward to upcoming activities :)

Where are they now?
Louis is now a member of Life Chance Trust's Youth Advisors Board, where he actively contributes to the charity's work. He has represented the charity at networking events, shared his views on a range of topics, participates in activities, and will join the charity's first residential trip. Louis also plans to access the Careers Coaching service to support his goal of pursuing a career in radio.

Louis now manages his own finances independently.
