JULES CASE STUDY
JULES CASE STUDY
A young person who due to trauma, found herself using drugs and alcohol and dropping out of college. Film, music and book lover.
MENTORED BY JAMES
Background
Jules’ life has been marked by profound challenges. As a teenager, she endured traumatic experiences, including sexual violence, which left deep emotional scars. Later, she found herself in a relationship characterised by emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. These experiences led to struggles with substance misuse, including drugs and alcohol, and caused her to leave college, feeling lost and at a crossroads.
Mentoring
At this critical juncture, Life Chance Trust stepped in. Through a series of mentoring conversations, the organisation provided Jules with the support and guidance she needed to rebuild her life. The mentoring sessions focused on achievable, small improvements, creating a foundation for lasting change.
One of the key elements of Jules recovery was her connection with her mentor, James. His empathetic and non-judgemental approach allowed Jules to open up about her past in a way she hadn't been able to before. Their conversations covered a wide range of topics, from relationships and friendships to family heritage, career aspirations, and even lighter subjects like films, music, and books. This holistic approach helped Jules regain her confidence and sense of self.
Where are they now
Today, J is thriving. She has entered a healthier and supportive relationship, secured full-time employment in a role she enjoys, and re-enrolled in college to continue her education. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of mentorship and the unwavering support of Life Chance Trust.
